Money ConfidenceStarting an emergency fund#FutureMeFund

The emergency fund rule that finally worked for me

For three years I tried to save whatever was left at the end of the month. There was never anything left. What changed: I moved a very small amount the same day my salary arrived — 200,000₫. Small enough that I never noticed it, consistent enough that it added up. Eleven months later I had one month of expenses set aside. I'm not a financial professional. This is just what worked for me, and I know my situation isn't everyone's.

This is the pay-yourself-first pattern and it's genuinely one of the most reliable habits. Pick an amount you'd forget, not an amount you'd resent.

The 'same day as salary' detail is what I was missing. Trying it this month.

Please don't feel behind if it takes longer. Mine took almost a year.

Ask an expert: planning for a longer, healthier life

Question from the community: 'I'm 44. Is it too late to plan for a longer life?' Short answer: no. Longevity planning is mostly about consistency, not timing. Consider three neutral checks — your health baseline, your income continuity if you couldn't work, and who depends on you.
